Captain Cooks Casino

Captain Cooks Casino has been around since 2000. This online casino is a Microgaming casino, which means all of its games are Microgaming games, including table games. This is good news for a Canadian player, although the casino only has around 500 games in total. Also, it’s licensed by the MGA, UKGC and Kahnawake Gaming Commission.

Although it’s surpassed the test of time, it remains to be seen whether it still holds its own against other, more modern casinos. Because, honestly, it looks like Captain Cooks hasn’t had a makeover since 2000. In fact, just to play some games you need to download the casino software onto both your desktop and mobile.

Still, there are some qualities that make Captain Cooks worth a read and a visit too. But maybe not commitment. Do you want to find out? Keep on scrolling down below for more juicy details.

With Captain Cooks, players can get up to $500 via the welcome bonus. The bonus is split over five different deposits. Specifically, the first five deposits that you make with the casino once you’ve signed in. And downloaded the software, because apparently that’s still a thing that casinos do.

Captain Cooks has a really unique first deposit bonus. The casino markets it as ‘get 100 chances to become an instant millionaire for just CA$5!’. Of course, in reality it works a little differently – but the sentiment is there.

Basically, the first bonus has a minimum deposit requirement of $5. For that, you’ll get an instant $25 bonus credited to your casino account. The $25 can be used to make 100 bets worth $0.25 on a progressive jackpot game. For example, Mega Moolah. This is how you can become an instant millionaire for your $5 deposit. It’s a great incentive to have some fun, but we wouldn’t bank on the ‘instant’ millionaire part.

The rest of the deposits are split as follows:

• 2nd deposit: 100% match up to $100
• 3rd deposit: 50% match up to $150
• 4th deposit: 25% match up to $125
• 5th deposit: 100% match up to $100

So, in terms of welcome bonuses, Captain Cooks has quite a generous offer going on.

Other than this, Captain Cooks also has a loyalty program for its most faithful customers. You can redeem points collected when making real money wagers to up your loyalty level and get more perks!

Since Captain Cooks is a Microgaming casino, it means that all of its 500 games are Microgaming products. Usually, Microgaming casinos will have the gaming provider Evolution Gaming added to their lobby. And this is the case with Captain Cooks, which guarantees that the live casino services are absolutely top-notch.

There are plenty of slot games, table games and video poker options to go round for everyone. When it comes to video poker alone, Canadian players can look forward to jacks or better, aces & faces, deuces wild and a bunch of other classic video poker games.

Players can find some of their favorite slots like Immortal Romance, Bridesmaids, King Tusk, Highlander, and so much more waiting for them in the casino lobby. These slots are varied in their special features, volatility and theme. It keeps things fun and interesting for all players – despite the fact that they’re all from the same provider.

The best part about Captain Cooks, though, is not in its slot selection. It’s in the progressive jackpot section. We’re talking super popular slots like Mega Moolah and Major Millions. Both slots have the potential to reach mega jackpots in the multiple millions.

And Captain Cooks has a ton of success stories to tell when it comes to its progressives. From the homepage alone, you’ll see the stories of two different Canadian players who won $3 million and (almost) $4 million respectively.

Heck, the online casino even has a ‘Winners List‘ which literally just lists all the thousands and millions won by its players. We don’t know if Captain Cooks is a lucky charm or something, but it seems like players have a tendency to get lucky when playing with it. Who knows, you might be next!

Aside from having the largest slot game collection in the industry, Microgaming also produces its own table games. Whether you’re looking to play roulette, blackjack, or any of the other classics – Captain Cooks has it sorted for you.

Fans of blackjack can have a go at games like Vegas Strip, Classic Blackjack, European Blackjack and Multihand Blackjack. Fans of roulette can take a seat at the tables of American Roulette, European Roulette, French Roulette and European Gold Roulette.

There’s plenty more than that, but that’s about the main gist of it.

As for live casino, pretty much the same applies. Players can look forward to live blackjack, live baccarat, live roulette and even live dream catcher! Given that all of these are provided by Evolution Gaming, you can rest assured that they will be excellent games. Dream Catcher, especially, is the popular live wheel-of-fortune style live game which has taken the scene by storm.

Live casino fans and table game fans alike should be well served with Captain Cooks. Although the problem of downloading casino software still remains (check down below under ‘Mobile Casino’).

Captain Cooks Casino thankfully has quite a reasonable selection of banking methods for Canadian players. Take a look down below for the comprehensive list:

• Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Maestro)
• E-check, EFT
• Skrill
• Direct Bank Transfer (DBT)
• ecoPayz
• Instadebit

This range includes some of the most important payment methods for CA players, including ecoPayz and Instadebit. In terms of variety – it’s definitely a decent choice.

The minimum withdrawal with DBT or wire is CA$300. With all other banking methods, it’s CA$50. There are no fees associated with making withdrawals, which is a great plus. Some casinos have fees attached, depending on the payment method.

For us, the main issue with banking at Captain Cooks Casino is how d-n slow withdrawals take to pay out. The casino itself reports that it takes credit cards 3 working days, e-wallets 1-3 working days, and DBT 6-10 working days. Canadian specific payments like EFT and e-check can take 2-3 business days. It takes Captain Cooks 48 hours just to start processing payments. By contemporary standards, that’s a very long time to wait for withdrawals. Especially when compared to some of the fast paying casinos available in Canada.

To top it off, players have reported that it has sometimes taken more than a week to receive withdrawals made with credit cards or e-wallets. Again, given that certain casinos offer ‘instant’ payments which are paid out in around 4 hours – that’s a really long time.

Of course, withdrawal periods are potentially the most important factor when deliberating joining any online casino. It makes you think twice about Captain Cooks.

The wagering requirements on the welcome bonus is actually different depending on the first deposit and the other deposits.

For the first deposit, the wagering requirement is a significant 60x. It’s true that the monetary bonus is only CA$25, so the wagering is $1,500 in total. But that is still a really hefty wagering compared to the usual of 35x-40x.

Thankfully, the requirement on the other deposits is 30x. This is a far more reasonable amount.

The minimum deposit necessary to trigger the bonus is $5 for the first deposit and $10 for the other deposits. As with all casinos, different games have different weighting towards fulfilling the wagering requirement. In the case of Captain Cooks, the weighting is as follows:

Slots and Parlor Games: 100% towards wagering requirements
Table Poker, Casino War and Sic Bo: 50% towards wagering requirements
All Blackjacks except Classic Blackjack, Craps and Baccarat: 10% towards wagering requirements
All Video Pokers except All Aces Video Poker, Caribbean Draw Poker, Texas Hold’em Bonus Poker Gold, Triple Action Hold’em Bonus Poker Gold, Classic Blackjack and all Roulettes: 2% towards wagering requirements

All Aces Video Poker does not count towards wagering

Live Baccarat and live Blackjack: 10% towards the wagering requirements
Live auto roulette, Live French and American roulette, live Caribbean Stud Poker, Live Casino Hold’em, Live Three Card Poker and Live Dream Catcher wheel: 2% towards wagering requirements

This is definitely a category in which Captain Cooks Casino delivers. Honestly, we’ve read through a lot of player comments about this casino – including complaints – but not a single one involves issue with customer care. Which is pretty miraculous for an online casino. The community talks smack a lot. Like – a lot.

Captain Cooks offers both 24/7 live chat help and also 24/7 accessibility via email. Depending on the urgency of your issue, and also how much help is required – you can choose between either. The casino is very convenient for Canadian players, so no issues there when it comes to explaining certain problems. That’s another added plus to this customer support system.

The email address for Captain Cooks is [email protected]. The team is very responsive and helpful, no matter what category your particular situation falls under.

Captain Cooks is one of the oldies on the blocks, given that it’s been around for almost two decades now. So we can understand that a lot of things need updating. But, we do expect them to get updated. It’s 20 years later people! We shouldn’t need to download software anymore to play online.

Aside from this, there are some other significant issues with Captain Cooks Casino. Namely, that the first deposit bonus comes with a wagering requirement of 60x. More importantly, the waiting time after making a withdrawal is simply way too long by today’s standards. We’re used to less than 24 hours, not 72 hours.

So, unfortunately, we can’t exactly give Captain Cooks the best of ratings. Still – if you want to form your own opinion of this casino, go right ahead. There’s nothing stopping you from becoming a player with Captain Cooks today.
